Our first meet for the new season was at Bringalbert last weekend, 14th October.

Nobody caught a fish, but we all had fun as usual.

We also held the AGM, and here are the results:

Our two head honcho’s are continuing on – Scott Carberry as President again, and Julie Bruce as Secretary/Treasurer.  Nifty stepped down as VP, and Steve Hocking took on the VP role.

Fees for Season 2017/18

Rod Fees: $10 per adult

Memberships:  $50 Family, $25 Singles

(For 16 years & over, if the teen is still at High School, they can still be classed in the family membership, but are competing in the Adult category for comps)

General Meeting

Next comp will be on the 4th, 5th November – as a club, we are entering the Edenhope Fishing Competition at Lake Wallace.

Nifty has kindly offered up free camping on his block, 207 Lake Street – which can fit about 12 vans.  Please make sure you bring some wood.  We will still have our own club comp and prizes, and hopefully someone bags a big one to claim a prize from the Edenhope Fishing Comp too!

When you Register (online) make sure you add a note to say you are with the Apsley Angling Club.  You can Register for the comp here:  https://www.edenhopefishingcomp.com

Christmas Comp

The Xmas comp with be at Lake Charlegrark on 1st Dec – in line with Cod opening.  Comp starts 6pm Friday 1st Dec, through to Sunday with final weigh in at noon.

On the Saturday night we will have a combined tea – Doug offered a lamb for a spit – keep in touch on Facebook to see who is bringing what.

We’re doing the Kris Kringle like last year – $10 limit, unisex gift.

We will try to get Aqua Steel (Barr’y) to come out again, this time perhaps teaching the kids (and some adults) how to scale and fillet a fish.

Casting Comp will be held again – so make sure you get working on your technique.

A suggestion was put up for a comp in April against Naracoorte Angling Club – down at Nelson.  More enquiries and details to be worked out.
